The Can-Lit establishment holds its most important night of the year tonight in Toronto when the Scotiabank Giller Prize is handed out.
One of five writers nominated will receive the $100-thousand prize which has the power to make the book a best seller.
The finalists include Sarah Bernstein for “Study for Obedience,” Eleanor Catton for “Birnam Wood,” Kevin Chong for “The Double Life of Benson Yu,” Dionne Irving for “The Islands: Stories” and “All the Colour in the World” by CS Richardson.
This year is the 30th anniversary of the Giller Prize. It was first handed out in 1994, a year after the death of its namesake, literary journalist Doris Giller.
