It’s called “Bleu Royal.”

It’s a rare 17.61 carat internally flawless, fancy, vivid blue, pear shaped diamond.  It’s now worth $44 million and is the most expensive jewel sold at auction this year.

The “Bleu Royal” was up for bidding during “Geneva’s Luxury Week” this week and far outstripped its pre-sale estimate of $35 million.

It was bought by an unidentified private collector.
