It is just over three weeks until Ontario Liberal party members choose their new leader.

And two of the leadership hopefuls have a new mantra — Anybody But Crombie.

Minutes after Thursday night’s debate in Ottawa, Liberal MPs Nate Erskine-Smith and Yasir Naqvi sent out separate news releases on a “joint leadership announcement” to be held on the front lawn of Queen’s Park at noon Thursday.

According to a Toronto Star report, unnamed campaign sources say two of the rivals to perceived front runner Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie would be disclosing how they can prevent her from winning the Liberal race.

During the debate, Crombie focused on how the next leader needs to empower Liberal candidates across the province during the next election campaign.

“And that comes along with policy development. It also comes along with nominating candidates openly, fairly and quickly so they can get on the ground running and start knocking on doors. And we need to engage with them as well,” Crombie explained.

The fourth candidate in the race for Ontario Liberal leader is Liberal MPP Ted Hsu.
