Ottawa’s reportedly received assurances there’ll be windows to evacuate Canadian nationals from Gaza through the Rafah border crossing on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday

 

 

But a government source also warns that the situation’s fluid and unforeseen events could affect timelines for getting Canadians out.

Global Affairs Canada says it’s in contact with at least 499 Canadian citizens, permanent residents and family members.

An e-mail from Global Affairs to those Canadians adds that the government of Egypt will allow them to stay in the country a maximum of 72-hours.

Some with family in the region say they’re relieved an exit strategy was starting to take shape while for others, ”Sunday still seems too far away.  Why not tomorrow?”
