There was a full house at a United Church in Waterloo last night for a benefit concert supporting the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony musicians.

Renowned, Grammy winning pianist Emanuel Ax joined former symphony musicians and members of the Penderecki String Quartet at the performance.

Ax played for free saying all musicians need support

It’s been more than a month since the symphony suddenly declared bankruptcy, leaving both musicians and employees out of work.

So far, a fundraising campaign started by the musicians has raised almost $500-thousand with the money going to support the musicians who found themselves in emergency financial situations.
