ACTOR WHO PLAYED THE TOWERING BAILIFF ON NIGHT COURT HAS DIED

The character actor who found lasting fame as an eccentric but gentle giant bailiff on the sitcom “Night Court” has died.

Richard Moll  died at his home in California this week. He was 80. No cause of death was given.

Moll played “Bull” Shannon on “Night Court” from 1984 to 1992 alongside stars Harry Anderson and John Larroquette.

His character formed a close friendship with the court’s other bailiff, Roz Russell, played by Marsha Warfield.

Moll’s career spanned more than four decades with roles on both TV and films. He worked as an actor and voice-over artist as late as 2018.

After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964, Moll took up acting, despite his father’s wishes for him to pursue a law career.
