An attempt by Canada to formally name Hamas for the ”deliberate cruelty” of its massacre in Israel has bee defeated at the United Nations.
Ambassador Bob Rae urged other countries to back an amendment that would have called out the terrorist group in a draft resolution calling for a humanitarian pause in the conflict.
But the amendment was unable to get the necessary two-thirds majority of votes in the General Assembly and was defeated.
The resolution itself passed easily 120-14.
Canada was among 45 countries that abstained from the final vote after the amendment did not pass.
