Representatives with India’s High Commission in Canada says it will resume processing some visa services starting today in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver after a review of the security situation.
New Delhi suspended the services in Canada and for Canadian citizens worldwide about a month ago.
Canada’s Emergency Preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan says it’s good to see India has resumed the services, “but it would’ve been nice if they didn’t remove them in the first place and as I want to remind Canadians and everybody that there was a Canadian killed on Canadian soil and we’re asking for greater cooperation (from India) in the investigation.”
The Government of India took action after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in parliament intelligence services were investigating credible information that India’s government may have been involved in the June killing of a Sikh leader in British Columbia.
