A border crossing between Gaza and Egypt has opened up to slowly begin a flow of desperately needed humanitarian aid into the besieged Palestinian territory for the first time since Israel sealed it off in the wake of Hamas’ vicious rampage.
Over 200 trucks carrying some 3,000 tons of aid are situated at the Rafah crossing, although only about 20 trucks have reportedly crossed so far into Gaza on Saturday.
Gaza’s more than two-million Palestinians, half of whom have fled their homes, have been rationing food and drinking dirty water.
Hospitals in the area have reported that they are running low on medical supplies and fuel for emergency generators amid a territory-wide power blackout.
Israel continues to launch waves of airstrikes across Gaza, as Hamas fires rocket barrages into Israel.
