A push by the Progressive Conservatives at Queen’s Park to censure NDP MPP Sarah Jama has grown more heated after they say the Hamilton Centre representative has doubled down on a controversial statement online for which she has apologized, by pinning the post to the top of her X feed.
The original post focused on the plight of Palestinians under Israeli occupation but did not mention the October 7th Hamas terror attack on Israel or the 1400 lives lost.
Following encouragement by NDP Leader Marit Stiles, Jama posted an apology and a clarification that she unequivocally condemns terrorism by Hamas on thousands of Israeli citizens.
Stiles says the Ford Tories’ ongoing push to have Jama censured is their way of distracting from an RCMP criminal investigation into the government’s Greenbelt land swap scandal.
Former Liberal Ontario cabinet minister John Milloy told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with guest host, Jane Brown, he agrees.
“To go through this having a motion and trying to censure her, I think is sending the wrong signal,” Milloy explained, “I think this should be a time that we want to listen to each other, we want to lower the temperature, and all this is going to do is increase the temperature.”

If censured, NPP Jama would not be allowed to ask the premier or cabinet ministers questions in the legislature.
