Justin Trudeau is not saying whether Canada would match New Delhi’s decision to ask the federal government to call home 40 of its diplomats by October 10.
The prime minister maintains the government would try to keep working with India.
”We’re not looking to escalate, as I’ve said, we’re going to be doing the work that matters in continuing to have constructive relations with India through this extremely difficult time,” Trudeau said.
Relations have gone rock recently after Trudeau announced there were ”credible allegations”of Indian involvement in the June assassination of Sikh independence activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Something India’s dismissed as absurd.
Trudeau said our diplomatic relationship with New Delhi is ”going through an extremely challenging time” but that the dispute has made it ”important” to have diplomats on the ground there.
