Jews in Toronto, across Canada and around the world are observing the holiest day of the Jewish calendar; Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement
Yom Kippur is the day Jews pray, seek forgiveness from God and their fellow humans.
For nearly twenty-six hours, from several minutes before sunset last night until after nightfall tonight, Jews will fast.
There are five prayer services at synagogues.
Tonight, they’ll partake in an after-fast meal, making the evening after Yom Kippur a festival in its own right.
