B.C. Sikh community leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s son says his father was meeting regularly with Canadian Security Intelligence Service officers in the months before he was shot.
Balraj Nijjar says he met with CSIS officers ”once or twice a-week,” including one or two days before the killing in June, with another meeting scheduled for a couple days after that.
His son adds he too attended a meeting between his father and RCMP last year, in which they were informed about threats to his father’s life.
He was advised to ”stay at home.”
A vocal supporter of the movement advocating for a separate Sikh nation was shot by two masked men outside Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, where he was president.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dropped a bombshell in the Commons Monday, when he announced intelligence services were investigating ”credible” information about ”a potential link” between the killing and India’s government.
An accusation New Delhi has dismissed as ”absurd and motivated.”
