The Toronto International Film Festival has come and gone after 11 days that lacked the usual star power but still impressed movie buffs.

This year’s festival lacked a lot of the usual glitz and glitter because of strikes by Hollywood actors and writers.  However organizers say that left more room to feature Canadian productions.

Cord Jefferson’s “American Fiction” won the People’s Choice Prize, the People’s Choice documentary award went to “Mr.Dressup: The Magic of Make-Believe” and Sophie Dupuis’ “Solo,” a feature about a talented performer in Montreal’s drag scene, was named best Canadian feature.
