Beginning at sunset tonight, Jews across Toronto, Canada and around the world will begin to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
Rosh Hashanah, literally “head of the year,” is the Jewish New Year. It’s a two-day observance and celebration that marks the beginning of the year 5784.
Rabbinical customs include attending synagogue services and afterward enjoying a festive meal steeped in symbolism and tradition.
Rosh Hashanah continues through sundown Sunday.
