It was on this day in 1983 the band released its breakthrough album, “Sports.”

It went on to sell 7-milion copies and produced five hit singles.

Lewis says he was surprised how well the album did, considering they were hoping to get just one hit on the radio

Huey Lewis and the News were based in San Francisco and ultimately achieved 19 top ten singles across the Billboard Hot 100, Adult Contemporary, and Mainstream charts.
