Some of the largest school boards in Canada will begin the new school year without formal policies on the use of artificial intelligence in the classroom.
Some of them will rely on existing student codes of conduct, while others say they are in discussions on how to best tackle A-I.
But Lauren Bialystok, a social justice education professor at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, says blanket policies are not the solution anyway.
Bialystok says teachers need more professional development and guidance to better understand how A-I can be used responsibly in schooling.
