More than three years after the start of the COVID -19 pandemic, Metrolinx is removing many of the items put in place to limit the spread of the virus.

Over the next several weeks, passengers on GO trains may notice the absence of plastic dividers between seats, no more decals about masks and social distancing, and the removal of hand sanitizer dispensers near the doors.

The measures were first installed in June 2020.

The transit agency says the decision to remove them was made in consultation with the Metrolinx health and safety team and public health.

Metrolinx also announced it was increasing GO service with new routes to major colleges and universities across the GTA.
