Mr. Chong’s goes to Washington.
Calling it ”not an everyday occurrence,” the long-time Wellington-Halton Hills Conservative MP, is going to Capitol Hill to appear before the congressional executive commission on China September 12th.
Michael Chong has repeatedly said he received threats related to criticism of the government in Beijing.
Plus China’s gathered info on his overseas relatives, that resulted in a RCMP investigation and Ottawa’s expulsion of a Chinese diplomat.
Chong says his message to American lawmakers will be that, the transnational repression that’s taking place in Canada and elsewhere, is also affecting ”thousands” whose cases are not front-page news, and that like-minded democracies have to work more closely together.
