A month long strike at Metro grocery stores in the GTA is over.

Members of Unifor Local 414 spent most of the day Thursday voting on a tentative agreement to end the walkout and eventually ratified a new deal.

The five year pact includes a total wage increase of $4.50 an hour, including an immediate pay hike of $1.50 an hour, as well as another 50-cents an hour boost as of January first.

Unifor national president Lana Payne called it an “historic collective agreement” that sets a new bar for grocery store workers…

Workers, who’ve been on strike since July 29, could be back on the job Friday morning.
