A popular ride at the CNE midway has re-opened, after a man was seriously injured Monday night.

Inspectors from the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) have been on site at the Polar Express since the accident happened, and have now deemed the ride “safe to use”.

It also says the ride met all safety requirements before it was initially allowed to operate.

While the TSSA says the root cause of the incident is ongoing, witnesses say the 18-year old man was standing up and in the midst of recording a TikTok video when he was injured.  The man is reportedly out of hospital and doing well.

The re-opening of the ride comes as the EX approaches its final weekend.  The CNE wraps up on Labour Day.
