Sky watchers report being dazzled by last night’s blue, super moon which was at its peak in the Eastern Time Zone just after 9:30 pm.
And if you are wondering why the moon appeared red at times, York University Astronomy Professor Elaina Hyde says that’s the result of wildfire smoke in the upper atmosphere.
It’s called a “blue” moon because it’s the second appearance of the full moon in a single month. That only happens “once in a blood moon.”
