The votes have been cast and counted on a poll to name the most popular sound track in the United Kingdom and the favourite beat out both “Star Wars” and “Schindler’s List.
Howard Shore’s soundtrack to “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy was the clear favourite among those taking part in choosing the top 100 film scores.
The composer told British radio that he was very happy to bring listeners a little closer to J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth.
The scores for “Schindler’s List” and “Star Wars” came in second and third. ” Out Of Africa” and “Gladiator” rounded out the top five.
John Williams was still he most popular composer with 11 entries on the full list The scores for “Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, ” “Indiana Jones.” “E.T.,” “Jaws” and “Superman” also made the cut.
