We already know that Canadian Director Denis Villeneuve’s latest “Dune” film wont’ be released until next spring, a victim of the Hollywood strikes by writers and actors.

Now comes word Villeneuve wants to make “Dune” a trilogy.

The 55-year old Quebec native says the potential third film will be based on the “Dune Messiah” novel.

Part Two tells the story of author Frank Herbert’s original 1965 novel.

Villeneuve says the third film has yet to receive the green light from the studio but he’s already working on script and says turning “Dune” into a trilogy would be a dream come true.
