A private screening room in Toronto is being renamed to honour Oscar-nominated Canadian filmmaker Norman Jewison.

Yorkville’s Hazelton Hotel will rename its 25-seat Silver Screening Room the Norman Jewison Cinema at an event September 11th to coincide with the Toronto Film Festival.

The 97-year-old director is known for many Hollywood hits including “Fiddler on the Roof”, In The Heat Of The Night” and Moonstruck.

High-profile guests, friends and some of Jewison’s collaborators will be in attendance at the renaming.

This isn’t the first space at the Hazelton to honour a legendary Canadian artist. It previously named its private dining room after folk musician Neil Young.

Jewison also founder of the Canadian Film Centre.
