The BBC’s historic, Maida Vale studios in London, which have hosted stars ranging from the Beatles to Adele, have been sold to a group led by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
The 65-year old German musician wrote the scores for movies like “Gladiator,” “The Lion King” and “Dune.”
Zimmer wants to make the famed studio, which began life in 1909 as a giant roller rink, a place that inspires, teaches, technologically serves the arts and humanity and gives the next generation the same opportunities he was given; that being “to create and to never give up.”
The property was valued at about $15 million but the BBC did not disclose the purchase price.
