Toronto transit riders will soon have more ways to pay for public transit and will no longer have to worry about waiting in line to load their Presto cards.
Beginning Tuesday, riders will be able to pay using a credit or debit card, including cards on smartphones and smartwatches.
Ontario’s associate minister of transportation Stan Cho says they’re working on further plans to make the system more convenient.
“Expanding payment options does support our government’s long term goal of integrating transit by making the experience more connected and more convenient and on that note we’re working closely with our partners including the TTC to develop coordinated approaches to regional fare integration that benefits riders,” said Cho.
For the past year, users have been able to use credit and debit cards to ride the UP Express, GO Transit and local transit systems in Brampton, Durham and Mississauga
