The Prime Minister and his family are vacationing in British Columbia for just over a week, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The PMO isn’t specifying where they will be staying, only noting that they are set to return to Ottawa on August 18.

Justin Trudeau and his wife of 18 years, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, announced just last week that they are separating but that they still intend to spend time together as a family.

The family has also asked for privacy for the well-being of their three children.

The Prime Minister’s Office says it consulted with the ethics commissioner about the trip, and stated that the Trudeau’s are paying for their own stay.

For security reasons the prime minister travels on a Royal Canadian Air Force plane, even for personal travel.
