She was once among the biggest box office draws at the Metropolitan Opera.

Now, 51-year-old Russian soprano Anna Netrebko is suing the company and general manager for defamation, breach of contract and other violations.

She’s seeking 360 thousand dollars in damages for lost performance and rehearsal fees claiming the Met
caused her severe mental anguish and emotional distress after it severed ties with her.

The Met dropped the Russian soprano from future engagements shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
