How will Canadian voters feel about a separated single dad prime minister?

“What this tells me, this next election, assuming he’s running, is going to be really ugly and nasty,” Postmedia National Political Columnist Tasha Kheiriddin told The Morning Zoom with Sam and Jane on Zoomer Radio.

On the ripple effect of Justin Trudeau and Sophie Gregoire Trudeau’s separation, Kheiriddin says, “If you’ve been following the reaction on social media to the separation, it’s very divided. People are either very sympathetic or saying ‘leave them alone’ or they’re piling on the hatred and saying ‘well during the pandemic my family was not left alone, my family was interfered with. It’s opened up this big wound and that tells me that in the next election there’s going to be a stoking of that because there’s anger and angry people are motivated to vote.”

After the bombshell announcement on both Justin Trudeau’s and Sophie Gregoire Trudeau’s Instagram accounts Wednesday, Trudeau’s itinerary says he is in private meetings on Thursday.

Sophie Gregoire Trudeau has already moved out of Rideau Cottage to an undisclosed location in Ottawa.

The plan is for the prime minister to continue to live at Rideau Cottage, where their 3 children will also live most of the time.

Gregoire Trudeau will also spend time at Rideau Cottage with their children, including during the prime minister’s frequent travels.
