City staff are taking a closer look at trees in Trinity Bellwoods Park after a woman who was struck by a falling branch last week died of her injuries.

City spokesperson Bradlee Bomberry says the fallen tree has been removed and analyzed as staff perform visual inspections of other trees in the park.

He says city staff perform regular inspections of the more than 5 million trees in the city but that incidents like what happened in Trinity Bellwoods Park can still happen, even with healthy trees.

The 71-year-old victim has been identified as Pari Nadimi, whose art gallery is just steps from the park.
