New charges and the addition of a new defendant to the classified documents case against former U.S. President Donald Trump are shining a light on how the Mar-a-Lago investigation is still very much ongoing, even as the focus has been on an expected indictment in a completely separate case related to the 2020 election.
In an updated indictment that came down Thursday, prosecutors are alleging that Trump asked a staffer to delete camera footage at his Florida estate in a bid to obstruct the federal investigation into his possession of classified documents.
Trump continues to deny any wrongdoing and has dismissed the prosecution as an effort to mar his 2024 campaign for the White House.
