The man behind the screen adaptation of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, featuring Oscar winner Jack Nicholson, has died.

Bo Goldman passed away on Tuesday in California at the age of 90.

After years of struggle as a playwright, Goldman found success in Hollywood in 1975  with an adaptation of the Ken Kesey novel about life inside a mental institution.

The film went on to sweep the Academy Awards, winning all the major categories, including best adapted screenplay.

Goldman also penned the movie “Melvin and Howard” about a chance encounter with a man who claimed to be Howard Hughes.
