CONTROVERSIAL SINGER SINEAD O'CONNOR DIES AT THE AGE OF 56

After a turbulent life and career, Irish singer Sinead O’Connor has died.

The gifted and troubled Irish performer was known for her shaved head and for her fierce and expressive voice.

She became an international sensation in 1990 with her cover of Prince’s ballad “Nothing Compares 2 U,” an emotional performance that topped the charts and resulted in multiple Grammy nominations.

In 1992, O’Connor ripped up a picture of the Pope ,while appearing as a guest on Saturday Night Live, and was banned for life by NBC.

O’Connor had announced she was retiring from music in 2003 but continued to record new material.

Her most recent album was “I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss”, released in 2014.

She also sang the theme song for season seven of Outlander.

Sinead O’Connor was 56.
