This does not bode well for air travellers in this country.
New data shows Canada’s largest airline had the worst on time performance last month among nine North American airlines.
According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, of more than 33,000 Air Canada flights flown in June, just 53-percent arrived at their destinations on time.
This marks a significant drop from the Air Canada’s performance in May, when roughly 70-percent of the airline’s 32-thousand flights arrived on time.
As for West Jet, Canada’s second largest carrier ranked sixth with 67-percent of more than 16,000 flights in June landing at their destinations on time.
But there is good news.
Figures also show that between 93 and 98 per cent of the two Canadian carriers’ planes hit the gate less than two hours late, indicating that Air Canada and WestJet have better records than in the travel chaos of last summer.
