Former Mayor John Tory is in Ukraine supporting a documentary on children’s mental health.

Tory and his brother arrived in the country’s capital of Kyiv yesterday and has heard three air raid siren alerts since arriving. He says the documentary “Unbreakable” which is partly funded by the former Mayor, serves as tribute to the Ukrainian community in Toronto.

Speaking with Newstalk 1010, Tory says children are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

“The impact has been profound and of course they are now looking at how to deal with that, and one of the places we’re going  later today, is a PTSD program to talk to them and we know by doing the research, they have a huge shortage, as we do, of professionals who can help these kids,” Tory said.

This is the first time Tory has spoken publicly about his career plans since he resigned as Mayor after admitting to an affair with a staffer.
