Eligible voters in the provincial ridings of Scarborough-Guildwood and Kanata-Carleton are invited to cast ballots in advance polling which begins Wednesday July 19th.

Advance voting locations will be open from 10am to 8pm through this Friday July 21st.

According to Elections Ontario, applications to vote by mail are due by Friday at 6pm, with byelection day coming up next Thursday July 27th.

In the riding of Scarborough-Guildwood, former Toronto mayor John Tory is endorsing the PC candidate Gary Crawford, Tory’s former budget chief.

This is Tory’s second political endorsement in a matter of weeks, after came out in support of Ana Bailao in the recent Toronto mayoral byelection.

“I think he’s missing the attention for sure. I’ve known him for a long time,” former Ontario Liberal cabinet minister George Smitherman told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with guest host Jane Brown, “His endorsement of Bailao cost her votes too. I’m not saying overall that it was a drag on her vote. It definitely helped her. Many people were forced to vote for Olivia Chow because they weren’t looking for the second John Tory model, so it cut a little bit both ways.”

The east Toronto riding of Scarborough-Guildwood has been vacant since former Liberal MPP Mitzie Hunter resigned in May to run in last month’s Toronto mayoral byelection.

The Ottawa-area riding of Kanata-Carleton was vacated in March when Merrilee Fullerton abruptly resigned.
