Actress, singer and style icon Jane Birkin died Sunday in France.

 

The London-born star was known for her musical and romantic relationship with French singer Serge Gainsbourg. Their songs notably included the steamy “Je t’aime moi non plus.”

French design house Hermès also named and designed a handbag for her in 1984. The now famous “Birkin” bag is one of their most popular and at $6000, one of the most expensive.

French President Emmanuel Macron hailed Birkin as a “complete artist.”

Birkin was 76.
