It’s day two of Olivia Chow’s term as Toronto’s new Mayor and she says the first order of business for her is dealing with the city’s homeless and refugee situation.

Chow says city staff are to meet with provincial and federal officials tomorrow looking at solutions to what she calls the “refugee and shelter crisis.”  Since refugees are considered a federal responsibility, she says Toronto will press Ottawa for more funding.

Chow says right now, the city’s shelter system is taking care of 9,000 people and there is simply no more space.
