For the second straight day, Toronto’s mayor-elect has chaired a meeting to improve relationships and to help define possible solutions to the city’s urgent problems.
Yesterday’s was on affordable housing and economic opportunity.
Today’s dealt with crisis response.
”When someone is in crisis, they need the appropriate response and support,” Olivia Chow says.
”Many people have had a loved one experiencing a mental health crisis or witnessed someone who needs help, and they don’t know who to call. That’s why we need to keep building on the success of the Toronto Community Crisis Service, publicize it so people know it is available, and expand it city-wide so that everyone can access a caring and supportive response in a crisis.”
The next transition meeting, next week, will deal with homelessness and wraparound services.
