As she prepares to take office a week today, Mayor-elect Olivia Chow held the first in a series of transition engagement meetings to build strong relationships and define possible solutions to the city’s most urgent problems.
This one focused on affordable housing.
Chow, members from the United Way, the development community and civil services discussed the community-focused development model pursued in Scarborough’s Golden Mile.
”The commitment that I heard today that is extremely encouraging, is that people at this table are saying ‘we are eager to work together to solve that challenge’ to find a path forward,” said Chow.
The meeting was held at the Victoria Park Hub, that provides services for families and recent immigrants in the Golden Mile, Victoria Village and O’Connor communities.
