There are now 5 officially running to become leader of the Ontario Liberals.
MPP Adil Shamji, who worked as an emergency room doctor before winning a Toronto riding last year, says he’ll work on solutions to problems in healthcare, housing affordability and education.
“For months, I’ve been travelling across our province, to meet Ontarians in their towns and in their communities, said Shamji announcing the news on Twitter. “As the MPP for Don Valley East, I’m already holding Doug Ford to account in the legislature everyday.”
He joins Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, MP’s Yasir Naqvi and Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, and MPP Ted Hsu who’ve all declared leadership bids.
Ontario Liberals will vote for their new leader through ranked ballots in late November, with the results to be unveiled Dec. 2.
