LEGENDARY DJ DICK BIONDI DIES AT 90

He was an acclaimed U.S. radio personality who is officially credited as being the first American DJ to play the Beatles on air in February 1963.

“Please Please Me” first hit the airwaves on WLS – Chicago a year before Beatlemania took over North America.

Dick Biondi was one of the earliest personalities to play classic rock music on U.-S. radio and was commonly referred to as the “King of the Oldies.”

He spent most of 67-year radio career in the Chicago area before retiring in 2017. He was inducted into the US Radio Hall of Fame in 1998.

Dick Biondi was 90.
