One of Canada’s highest civilian honours has been bestowed upon over 80 advocates, artists and entertainers.
Governor General says the Order of Canada is meant to recognize people who make ”extraordinary contributions” to the country.
It’s divided into three levels — companions, officers and members.
Companion is the highest and cannot have more than 165 living members at any time.
The three new companions are former Supreme Court justice Clement Gascon, Alan Bernstein and Leo Gerard.
There are nearly two dozen officers, including Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri; who’s being recognized for his work on and off the pro basketball court and Juno award winning singer-songwriter and friend of Zoomer Media Andy Kim; whose famous hits including ”Sugar, Sugar” ”Rock Me Gently” and ”How’d We Ever Get This Way.”
Among the dozens of members is actor-writer Dan Levy; who co-created ”Schitt’s Creek” with father Eugene Levy, and was named for ”trailblazing advocacy of 2SLGBTQI+ communities” and for advancing Canadian TV.
