Mayor elect Olivia Chow has announced her leadership team including Chief of Staff Michal Hay, a community organizer and City Hall veteran.

“Michal’s dedication to this city, to bringing people together to drive change, is unmatched. Her leadership style and experience at City Hall is a perfect fit with my own approach to governing. I’m proud to have her as my chief of staff, building and leading an exceptional Mayor’s Office team,” said Chow.

Chow says her early transition meetings will focus on three priorities around the homelessness crisis: affordable housing, community crisis response and supportive housing and wrap around services.

Chow is calling for an early meeting of the executive committee in August to deal with the financial long term plan saying the city’s been ‘cut to the bone’.

She plans to meet with Doug Ford regularly between now and September on urgent matters.

Historically, new mayors have had over a month for transition, but with the City facing a number of urgent problems, Olivia requested to take office on July 12.
