CITY OF TORONTO PROPOSES 2-MONTH PILOT PROGRAM ALLOWING ALCOHOL IN 20 PARKS

Drinking alcohol may soon be allowed in some city parks this summer and fall.

In May, Toronto City Council voted in support of directing staff to come up with a pilot program permitting personal consumption in 20 parks.
City staff’s report goes before the Economic and Community Development Committee July 6.
The committee’s recommendations will then go to City Council at its meeting July 19 – 21.
If approved, starting August 2 until October 9, anyone 19-and-older would be allowed to responsibly drink alcohol in the parks listed below.

Dufferin Grove Park Ward 9 – Davenport
Campbell Avenue Playground and Park  Ward 9 – Davenport
Dovercourt Park  Ward 9 – Davenport
Roundhouse Park  Ward 10  Spadina – Fort York
Trinity Bellwoods Park  Ward 10 Spadina – Fort York
Christie Pits Park  Ward 11 – University – Rosedale
Queen’s Park  Ward 11 – University – Rosedale
Sir Winston Churchill Park  Ward 12  Toronto – St. Paul’s
Corktown Common  Ward 13  Toronto Centre
Greenwood Park  Ward 14  Toronto – Danforth
Riverdale Park East  Ward 14  Toronto – Danforth
