An Amsterdam museum that cut ties with St. Petersburg’s Hermitage collection following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine last year has a new name.
Beginning in September, the Hermitage Amsterdam will be called H’ART Museum.
The museum announced Monday that it has forged partnerships with the British Museum, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Centre Pompidou to bring works of art to the historic building on the banks of the Dutch capital’s Amstel River.
Annabelle Birnie, the museum’s director, says the move is “an exciting new step for us, a contemporary and future-proof model.”
