Toronto is getting set to to once again host one of the world’s largest Pride celebrations.

It culminates with Sunday’s big parade through downtown Toronto and coincides with an increase in LGBTQ hate and the impact that is having on the mental health of people in that community.

Statistics Canada recently released data showing a 64% increase in police-reported hate crimes based on sexual orientation.  As a result, Pride has increased security for this year’s event thanks to a major grant from the federal government.
