We’ve learned about the closure of another cottage country emergency department this summer.
The E.R. at Durham Hospital, also known as South Bruce Grey Health Centre, will be closing overnight on certain days this summer due to a shortage of physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers.
A statement says the temporary service changes will allow the hospital to effectively use their limited resources to care for patients.
As a result, the emergency department will be closed from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. on 13 days between June 24th and July 31st.
In Minden, the hospital emergency room closed altogether on June 1st.
Earlier this week, Health Minister Sylvia Jones announced an urgent care centre will open in its place.
People in life threatening condition will still need to be taken to Haliburton’s emergency department, which is 25 minutes away.
