After joining The Morning Zoom with Sam and Jane on Tuesday to make his long shot pitch for Toronto’s next mayor, Rob Davis announced he’s dropping out to support fellow candidate Anthony Furey.

“And while Mark Saunders and Ana Bailao and Brad Bradford are great people, I know them all personally, their platforms are not all that much different from each other,” Davis told reporters, “Only one candidate has the momentum to take on Olivia Chow on Monday, and that’s Anthony Furey.”

In response, Furey said he’s aligned with Rob Davis against expansion of bike lanes in Toronto and also said he’ll be asking the former Toronto city councillor and budget chief for a lot of advice in the last week of the campaign.

But Furey does not have the momentum according to the latest Mainstreet Research poll which gives him 7-percent of decided voter support tied with Mitzie Hunter.

The survey puts Olivia Chow out in front with 36-percent of decided voter support, 23 points ahead of both Mark Saunders and Ana Bailao with 13-percent each. Josh Matlow has 12 percent support.
